Our focus on the rights of women and girls
RAY HOPE REFUGEE ORGANIZATION LIMITED’s expertise lies in our holistic and inclusive approach to tackling poverty among refugees. While Ray Hope Refugee Organization Limited works alongside refugees of all ages, backgrounds, and genders, we place special emphasis on women as we all know 70% of the world’s poorest people are women. Women and girls experience poverty, hardship, unemployment, illiteracy, conflict, and health emergencies very differently from men, and require specialized approaches.
Responding to specific needs
While conflicts and forced displacement a key drivers of poverty as well as the singular factors causing people to become refugees, when women refugees are trained and equipped with important skills for economic empowerment, our evidence tells us that they bring their whole communities with them when they are economically buoyant and financially prosperous.
RAY HOPE REFUGEE ORGANIZATION LIMITED places the specific needs and rights of refugee women and girls at the heart of all we do. It reflects our practical approach to fighting poverty, the specific technical expertise we have gained over the years of our research, and our relations with the refugee community play a critical part in our identity as an organization grounded in creating economic empowerment opportunities for refugee women and girls.
What we do
RAY HOPE REFUGEE ORGANIZATION LIMITED tackles the underlying causes of poverty and hopelessness among vulnerable refugees in order to deliver lasting change in their lives.
How we work
RAY HOPE REFUGEE ORGANIZATION LIMITED tackles the underlying causes of poverty and hopelessness among vulnerable refugees in order to deliver lasting change in their lives. We believe that at its root, poverty among refugees is caused by political conflict which results in forced displacement and unequal power relations that result in inequitable distribution of resources and opportunities in the host country. Poverty among refugees cannot be overcome without addressing these underlying power imbalances.
RAY HOPE REFUGEE ORGANIZATION LIMITED contributes to lasting impact at scale in poverty eradication among refugees, in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). While all that we do is to support the achievement of ending poverty among refugees through innovative projects, advocacy, and training sits at the heart of our programmatic ambitions and radiates throughout our work.
Gender equality among refugees is also central to our core organizing and mobilization principle. We cannot achieve economic justice, health equity, access to quality education, the right to food, water, and nutrition, or equal access to humanitarian assistance without addressing gender inequality.
